Clothes Reputation

Posted in Life, Philophy, Uncategorized with tags , , on June 24, 2008 by Ryan

Do the clothes someone wears make them who they are? Or does the person wearing the clothes give them a trendy feel? In the school that I go to everyone who can afford It wears American Eagle designer clothes. But if someone high on the social ladder wears high socks and short shorts, does his reputation take a hit or do the high socks represent a new trend? Schools are generally pretty faithful to the saying that “The nail that sticks out, gets hammered down”. When someone gets a new shirt that doesn’t fit the acceptable threads its a big deal. Although if the person has more followers than not the fashion oops evolves into a new trend. We as a culture have fallen into a groove that relies on others to set the tone of what we wear. Thats why I make a point to try to be different in my clothes. It may not be the most popular thing to do but I’d rather be different than be just another link in the chain.

Corvettes,Corvettes,Corvettes

I just returned from Carlisle Pennsylvania where the biggest Corvette show in the country is. I think that it’s sort-of like Woodstock because everyone is there to have a good time and no one robs anyone, people help one another and talk to people that they don’t know. I took 275 pictures of corvettes and that was only ten percent of all the corvettes there. My father and I are building a 1975 Stingray for my mom which is taking forever because he doesn’t have the time. We saw a 1975 that was really nice and almost bought it but that would defeat the purpose of us building a corvette. For those who don’t know what Carlisle looks like here is a YouTube video that are at Carlisle. At the show their was a Dyno machine that keeps the car stationary and the wheels are on a conveyor belt sort-of thing and it tested its horsepower. This YouTube video shows a C5 with a supercharger on the Dyno machine. My father and I were on the other side of the machine looking at the horsepower which toped out at 505, more than twice the power of a 06′ BMW! Also their was a burnout competition which took out the quarter panel of a brand new C6. That video here.
