New Magazine

Posted in Cars on May 14, 2008 by Ryan

I love to read magazines about cars. My personal favorite is Motor Trend. It is a glimpse at the look in the near future of cars and concepts of new cars. It is a really a good magazine but it doesn’t quench my thirst for a magazine for modifying, and customizing cars. Thats where the magazine Super Chevy comes in,El Camino it gives a good source of tips for a person who needs his car to be unique. It gives a monthly feature on how to put in a new exhaust system for your 1967 El Camino. For those of you who don’t know what an El Camino looks like heres a picture, it looks like a pickup which rear-ended a sedan and fused together. Now back on subject, Super Chevy is very good at adding leafs to my expanding, mental library of car experience. The only thing wrong with the magazine is it is too complicated for a car enthusiast like me with little knowledge that comes with age. Not really big things but when the magazine refers to something called a “transmission pan” it does not register in my mind as a part that I know. So what do I do then? I usually go to my father and ask him because he has had 14 years experience of the mechanic trade. Then what happens to all the rest of the American population that has the need for this info but doesn’t have the resources parents not in that line of work, internet not clear, books expensive, or whatever the reason I have a solution. I plan on making a magazine that is made for teens like us, who like cars, need info, and can’t get it anywhere else. Comment if you would read it or give me feedback on departments for the magazine.

Dream Car

My dad is a mechanic so I got born into the trade of cars and have never lost my love for the machines, but I didn’t develop my love for Firebirds until I was twelve. I got an Xmod car that was a Firebird and it was the coolest car I had ever seen, with the exception of my fathers 88′ Corvette.
There also was a Firebird right outside my neighborhood where I could see it everyday going to school, but it got sold within four months. So I felt bad about how not having enough money to buy my dream car. Although when I looked on the bright side I realized that a rag top convertible wasn’t the best car for a starter-car. Thats because a rag top car, if flipped, can crush the driver. It was too early to get it anyway too. I wouldn’t be able to drive it which is what you obviously want to do with a car.

Sports Cancelled?

Posted in Philophy, Sports on May 13, 2008 by Ryan

More and more sports are starting to advertise on television to boost their viewers and attendees who go to games. NASCAR, the NHL, and the NFLs playoffs are just a few of the sports who have recently been advertising all that they have to offer. NASCAR and the NHL has openly complained about a decrease in viewers in the last few years. So why not, like a scripted TV show, cancel the broadcasting of the sport? I believe that if we keep traveling down the path we are then sports will be replaced on TV by other scripted “sports entertainment”. Such shows as the WWE, American Gladiator and the TNA are some of the shows that imitate sports but are fixed. That’s what seperates sports entertainment with real sports. In real sports a close and exciting game is something to look forward to, and not something to happen every time. But a close match in sports entertainment is expected and must keep getting closer, faster and more exciting until contraversy and “feuds” with opponents. The canceling of sports won’t happen anytime soon but it is a possibility if Americans continue this craving for the latest Big Brother and not the World Series.
